Beyer speed figures in the Preakness

Washington Post - 13 May 2015 20:32
Beyer Speed Figures measure how fast a horse has run in each of his races. The rating is incorporated into every thoroughbred's record in the Daily Racing Form. The average winning figure for the Preakness is 109. American Pharoah earned a figure of 105 when he won the Kentucky Derby, but if recent history is a guide, the Preakness will be a faster race. In eight of the past 10 years, it has produced the highest figure in the Triple Crown series.
